Common Error Messages and Solutions

When using your Ongo Compact for semen analysis, you may occasionally encounter error messages. This article will list the most common error messages, explain their meaning, and provide troubleshooting steps to resolve the issues. Screenshots of the error messages are included for easy identification.

1. Drift Error

If excessive movement of all objects in one direction is detected, the "Drift" error message will be displayed on the results screen.

To resolve this issue:

  • Ensure that the drift from filling the chamber has subsided before starting the analysis.
  • Wait a few seconds before recording the first video.
  • Ensure there is no excess semen after filling the chamber. Use only 5 μl of the sample.
  • Place the device on a level, stable surface and avoid disturbing it during measurements.

2. Low Cell Number Error

If fewer than 10 cells are measured in one video, the "LOW_CELL_NUMBER" error message will be displayed on the results screen.

To resolve this issue:

  • Ensure that the Ongo slide is placed correctly in the device.
  • Verify that the chamber is completely filled with the 5 μl sample.
  • Check that the sample is not over-diluted.

3. Low Motility Error

If no moving cells or very few moving cells are detected, the "LOW_MOTILITY" error message will be displayed on the results screen. This may indicate that the sample is of poor quality or that the sperm cells are dead.

To resolve this issue:

  • Verify that the semen sample was collected and prepared correctly.
  • Ensure that the sample is not too old or has not been exposed to unfavorable conditions (e.g., extreme temperatures, contamination).
  • If the issue persists, collect a fresh semen sample and repeat the analysis.

4. Low Battery Warning

If the battery power is low, Ongo Compact will display a warning message and return to the main screen. If an analysis is in progress, it will not be aborted, but the slide stage will no longer be heated.

To resolve this issue:

  • Connect the device to a power source using the provided charger.
  • Wait until the device is sufficiently charged before continuing with the analysis.

5. USB Drive Not Detected Error

If the pen drive is not inserted into the USB socket, Ongo Compact will display a warning message indicating that the results will not be saved.

To resolve this issue:

  • Insert the pen drive into the USB socket.
  • Ensure that the pen drive is correctly formatted and has sufficient space for storing the results.
